R5F562GADDXX is a root part number, not a shippable order code. The XX stands where a package and ordering suffix would sit, and what the string identifies is the die configuration: RX62G group, 256 Kbytes of code flash, 16 Kbytes of SRAM, 32 Kbytes of data flash, five-volt supply, and no CAN module. Break R5F562GADDXX and you are working with that configuration whichever physical variant the customer actually has, because the packaged parts carrying FP or FH and a hash suffix are the same silicon with a package decision appended.
The RX62G shares its analog front end, its communication blocks and its core with the RX62T, and differs in one substantial way: the general-purpose PWM timer is replaced by a high-resolution variant. Four channels, each capable of placing an edge with a resolution of three hundred twelve and a half picoseconds when the core runs at one hundred megahertz, or three hundred ninety picoseconds at eighty. That is roughly three hundred times finer than a single clock period, and it is achieved by interpolating between clock edges rather than by running the core faster.
Digital power conversion lives or dies on timing. A synchronous buck or a power-factor-corrected boost stage needs the switch node to turn off within a few nanoseconds of the commanded instant, otherwise the duty cycle cannot be controlled finely enough at high switching frequency. A conventional timer quantises the duty cycle into a few hundred steps; the high-resolution unit offers tens of thousands. The firmware consequence is significant: the modulation code is dominated by a table of timing values rather than by a control law, and that table is often the single most valuable thing in the image.
In a 256 Kbyte image the tables are large, regular and easy to spot: a monotonic sequence of values that spans the register’s range, repeated per phase, sometimes with a symmetry that betrays a sine or space-vector construction. Once located, the table constrains everything else, because the control loop variables can be matched against their indices. That is the practical difference between a dump and an analysis: a dump gives the customer bytes, an analysis gives them the relationship between duty cycle and output voltage.
Without the controller the two pins go to the application, and on a power board they usually become a second fault input or an extra gate-drive enable. The firmware will therefore read them directly rather than through a protocol handler, which makes the start-up sequence shorter and the state machine simpler. That simplicity is an advantage when reconstructing behaviour from an image, and it is why this variant is the easiest entry point into the group. Related work on a smaller high-resolution part appears in the RL78/G13 R5F1006A note, and the analysis pipeline that turns a table-heavy image into a document is described under IC reverse engineering.
The trailing XX is where a package and an ordering suffix would go, and its absence is telling you that this string describes a die configuration rather than a part you can buy. That is useful: it fixes the discussion at 256 Kbytes of code, 16 Kbytes of SRAM, 32 Kbytes of data flash, five volts and no CAN controller, and every physical variant with a package code added is a refinement of the same thing. Quote the root number in the report and the packaged code alongside it, so that the record survives whichever form the customer actually holds.
On this group the timer is the distinguishing feature: four channels of high-resolution PWM, each able to place an edge at three hundred twelve and a half picoseconds with the core at one hundred megahertz, or three hundred ninety at eighty. A hundred-lead or hundred-twelve-lead body brings out five port-output-enable pins and twelve complementary outputs, which is what allows a single device to run three phases with a safety cut-out that does not depend on software. The identifier convention on a sibling family is described in the serial-programming ID case on the R5F1006A note, packaging variations are compared in the R5F100AA article, and the analysis route from table to document is set out under reverse engineering a chip.
